To be sure, much is always changing in Savannah, which ironically prides itself on its unchangingness; this town has grown quite full of itself since I began visiting as a boy soldier almost 40 years ago, long, long before " the book " helped make it a mecca for the leisure people who bring so many cameras, dollars and good vibrations.
