J�ttemann studied psychology at the universities in Cologne, Bonn, Innsbruck and Kiel . 1974 he was appointed as professor at the Technical University of Berlin, where he taught the disciplines personality psychology, clinical psychology, psychodiagnostics and methodology.

In November 1965, Rankenheim was incorporated in the " Kombinat der Sonderheime f�r Psychodiagnostik und p�dagogisch-psychologische Therapie " ( combine of the special homes for psychodiagnostics and pedagogical-psychological therapy ) as a special home for " maladjusted " " auxiliary pupils " or those with or with a " behavioural disorder ".
