Sidi Bouzid, a town in central Tunisia with a population of 40,000 and no special distinction (other than lending its name to the nearby World War II “ Battle of Sidi Bouzid ” between German and U.S. forces) served as the unlikely venue for the drama. Sidi Bouzid is off the beaten track. ट्यूनीशिया के मध्य स्थित सिदी बाउजिद नामक शहर जो कि 40,000 जनसंख्या का शहर है और जिसकी अन्य कोई विशेषता नहीं है ( सिवाय इसके कि द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में जर्मन और अमेरिकी सेनाओं के मध्य सिदी बाउजिद संग्राम में इसका नाम आया था) वह इस पूरे नाटकीय घटनाक्रम का प्रमुख स्थल बना।

Beyond the Bombay-Poona region , where the soft trap-rock formations were exploited for excavation of chaityas and viharas , further north and north-west , the laterite hills as in Junagad , afforded the venue for such excavations ; laterite when freshly exposed being equally soft and tractable . इस क्षेत्र यानी बंबई तथा पूना के अतिरिक़्त इसके उत्तर तथा पश्चिमोत्तर में जूनागढ़ आदि में भी इस प्रकार के चैत्य तथा विहारों का निर्माण हुआ-कारण वहां भी फंदानुमा कम कठोर मखरैले पत्थर की चट्टानें थीं.मखरैला पत्थर यदि अनावृत्त हो तो वह भी उतना कठोर नहीं होता तथा उसमें कटाई छंटाई सुगम एवं सरल होती है .

When he tried to hold a news conference on the street in front of the building, a group of 30 left-wing demonstrators surrounded him chanting “Nazis” and “racists”, and dozens of police were deployed to keep order. ... इसके बाद भी स्वाभाविक रूप से फ्रीहिट दल के स्थापना पर प्रेस कवरेज में अधिक जोर इस्लाम के प्रति इसकी स्थिति पर रहा और इसे काफी संकीर्ण रूप में इस्लाम विरोधी राजनीतिक दल बताया गया। फ्रीहिट की स्थापना से दो निष्कर्ष निकाले जा सकते हैं। पहला, यह उस परिपाटी को ही प्रदर्शित करता है कि अधिक से अधिक यूरोप के दल इस्लाम पर स्वयं को केंद्रित रखना अपना मिशन मानकर चलते हैं और व्यापक रूप से ये अन्य से अलग दिखते हैं। जहाँ वाइल्डर्स की पीवीवी ने लगभग सभी सामाजिक समस्याओं के लिये इस्लाम को दोषी ठहराया तो वहीं फ्रीहिट ने इससे आगे “ अपनी पूरी शक्ति से देश के इस्लामीकरण का विरोध” को अन्य मुद्दों में से एक रखा है।

I tested the domestic ground first, by giving a careful statement that if Israel moved forward toward the creation of a viable state of Palestine - a state acceptable to the Palestinians - then Pakistan would reconsider its diplomatic stance toward Israel. As I expected the media and the intelligentsia reacted very positively, whereas the man in the street could not have cared less. I was then approached by some representatives of the American Jewish community led by Jack Rosen, president of the American Jewish Congress, to address the Jewish community in New York. It didn't take me long to agree. Simultaneously, we saw discernible changes in the attitude of Israel's Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, toward the Palestinian dispute. He started the forced removal of Jewish settlements' from Gaza. When I saw this on television, I immediately sensed an opportunity. I thought the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Israel would meet overtly. We considered Turkey the best venue for such a meeting and also thought that the good offices of the Turkish prime minister could be used to arrange it. It took just one day to organize all this. The Israeli's eagerness to respond was very clear. My gratitude went to my friend the prime minister of the brotherly host country Turkey. उन्होंने बोसनिया के मुसलमानों की रक्षा में अमेरिकी यहूदियों के योगदान की प्रशंसा करते हुए मुसलमानों को विधिक तथा अन्य सहायता उपलब्ध कराने के लिए भी उनकी सराहना की .उन्होंने कहा कि मैं इस बात की विशेष सराहना करना चाहता हूं . उन्होंने यहूदियों को अमेरिका का प्रभावशाली समुदाय बताया . भविष्य की ओर इशारा करते हुए मुस्लिम यहूदी संबंधों को दुरुस्त करने के लिए सहानुभूति और दया की आवश्यकता भी उन्होंने महसूस की .
